Loves of my life: PART I

John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends

When I was little I can always remeber being loved uncondictionally, but my greatest love then (and still is in a lot of ways) my daddy. Now don't get me wrong I loved my momma, there is something about the connection between a mother and a child no one can change and later I can tell how I have experienced this, BUT I truely was and still am a DADDY'S GIRL!!! This is a man that puts others before himself at all times. Growing up my brother and I were the "others" and I know to this day he would lay down his life for me without question just like the Lord did for all of us and some of us still refuse to follow him in all his rightousness. This man that I have the privilege to call my daddy has inspired me in so many ways and taught me what it is to be a great role model and an awesome parent. As the days go by and as I get older and realize I don't know everything like I thought I did years ago, there is one thing I have come to notice is how much I appreciate this man. I know now all the sacrifices that he had to make for himself to make sure my brother and I had the things we needed...now these weren't always the BEST of things but they served the purpose (sometimes they didn't run properly, or they were held together but duct tape) but to us they were awesome. I know he has done some things that weren't so smart but all in all I can't think of a much more Godly man than my daddy and I hope one day that I can be as great a person and do things for others without question the way he does now!
I think of all the children in the world that have never had the experince of knowing a daddy..now you can have a dad/father but there is a real differnce than having a DADDY! I wish I could bring all the children and let them have a brief moment with mine just so they can experience the love you can receive from such an awesome person. (although I may get a little jealous I have had him for 26 years so I can share)!! Thus leads to fostering: it takes a special perosn to welcome children into your home to raise when you know that they aren't even yours and most would think heck where is their mother and why isn't the family taking them. Some of these children just don't have anyone, that being said my dad and step-mom are foster parents. They take these children and try to bestow into them the love not only of parenting but the love of Christ. These kids won't be here forever but maybe they will grasp this concept of a higher power and take this knowledge with them as they leave on their journey's elsewhere. I wanted to touch this point to show that even though these children are not biological I know my daddy still loves them with all his heart the way Christ would. I can't think of a better person to be and I hope when I "grow up" I will have just an ounce of this mans character and love not only for his family but that of Christ.
